Disgrifiad
English: John Granville, 1st Earl of Bath. Painting, possibly a copy, displayed in Dunrobin Castle in Sutherland, Scotland, a seat of the Duke of Sutherland. One of the daughters of John Granville, 1st Earl of Bath PC (1628-1701), of Stowe in the parish of Kilkhampton in Cornwall, was Lady Jane Granville (d.1696), wife of Sir William Leveson-Gower, 4th Baronet and mother of John Leveson-Gower, 1st Baron Gower. The progeny of this marriage were co-heirs to the 3rd Earl of Bath. Her great-grandson was Granville Leveson-Gower, 1st Marquess of Stafford (1721–1803) one of whose younger sons was Granville Leveson-Gower, 1st Earl Granville (1773–1846) (younger half-brother of George Leveson-Gower, 1st Duke of Sutherland (1758–1833)), whose son was Granville Leveson-Gower, 2nd Earl Granville (1815–1891), Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs. A second Granville Earldom had been created for the Leveson-Gower family in 1833, following the death in 1776 without progeny of the last earl of the first creation Robert Carteret, 3rd Earl Granville (1721-1776), grandson of Lady Grace Grenville, suo jure 1st Countess Grenville, sister of Lady Jane Grenville.
