English: The Pit at the Princess Quarry. A deep and dangerous pit alongside the path up Craig Cwm-trwsgl. This quarry was worked in tandem with the nearby Prince of Wales Quarry. Neither made much money for their London investors and each operated only briefly. Both had closed by 1890. Some attempt was also made to extract rock by tunnelling, and there is a collapsed adit further down the slope. A rail track linked the quarry with its larger neighbour. |
