Thanks for the message and advice regarding uploading duplicates of pictures. I'll bear it in mind in future - it was an honest mistake but sorry anyway for creating such a lot of work unnecessarily! Rhodri77 06:38, 10 Hydref 2009 (UTC)Ateb

Martin, thanks for your work. I have deleted the images which you have tagged for deletion and which were no longer in use in articles. However, I realise that there may be more images that you will tag later. I am concerned to avoid creating a huge backlog in Categori:Tudalennau amheus, because it would never get dealt with, and then if there are later other images that need deleting for any more serious reasons then these would not get noticed. For this reason, if you are going to tag a lot more images for deletion, I think it might be better for you to ask for temporary admin rights so that you can delete them yourself, provided that you only delete those which are simply duplicates of an image on commons, and leave the regular admins to decide in the case of any images that are not on commons (e.g. which you suspect to be copyright violations). I see that you are an admin on commons, and you clearly know what you are doing, so I imagine that the bureaucrat Defnyddiwr:Anatiomaros would probably grant you temporary admin rights for this purpose if you explain to him clearly what you need it for, and leave some record that it is temporary so that we can ask a steward to remove the rights afterwards. Thanks. Alan 06:47, 10 Hydref 2009 (UTC)Ateb
Not required, besides im not speaking the language of this Wiki you will see edits in the recent changes. Also is no hurry to delete, just some from time to time. Maybe some users of the Wiki will discover the advantages of a shared file repository and join me in replacing the images. --Martin H. 17:19, 10 Hydref 2009 (UTC)Ateb
Martin, please can you stop for a few minutes, just to give me a chance to explain an idea I've had about how to make this more manageable. Many thanks. Alan 18:24, 10 Hydref 2009 (UTC)Ateb
Stoped, no problem. Let me know, I already made this "a project" for me. --Martin H. 18:28, 10 Hydref 2009 (UTC)Ateb
Many thanks. Okay, here's the issue. I am still concerned about large numbers of images being tagged with {{delete}} just because they are already on commons. It will create a backlog in Categori:Tudalennau amheus, which may mean that other images, which have more urgent reasons to be deleted, may not get noticed. What I propose is that for any images where the only reason to delete them is that they are dupes from commons, that instead of using {{delete}} you add instead {{on commons|name of image on commons}}. I haven't yet actually written template:on commons, but what I will make it do is to put the files into a separate category (other than Categori:Tudalennau amheus). Possibly I will even make it put them in one of two categories, depending whether the image on commons has the same name as the local image or a different name. In any case, we can then delete those images less urgently, when we have motivation, without making a backlog in Categori:Tudalennau amheus. Many thanks. Alan 18:36, 10 Hydref 2009 (UTC)Ateb
Okay, that seemed to work. See Delwedd:220px-Clark Gable in Mutiny on the Bounty trailer.jpg as an example. If you could please tag the images that way rather than with {{delete}}, that would help considerably. Of course, feel free to use {{delete}} if there is an image with a more pressing reason to get rid of it. Alan 18:50, 10 Hydref 2009 (UTC)Ateb
Thanks for your work on the images, but I have been re-caegorising them recently, so all those on Commons can be deleted, and I can apply appropriate Welsh-language tags to those that are copyrighted (or in any other way not on Commons). Paul-L 15:09, 11 Hydref 2009 (UTC)Ateb
