Nofelydd, bardd a thraethodydd yn yr Almaeneg ydy Herta Müller (ganwyd 17 Awst 1953). Enillodd hi'r Wobr Nobel am Lenyddiaeth yn 2009. Cafodd ei geni ym mhentref Niţchidorf, yng ngogledd-orllewin Rwmania ond mae hi'n Almaenes o ran iaith a thras. Cyfieithwyd ei gwaith i dros 20 o ieithoedd ers y nawdegau. Un o brif nodweddion ei gwaith yw trais a chreulondeb y cyfnod dan Nicolae Ceauşescu yn aml o safbwynt y gymuned Almaeneg yn y Banat, a Transylvania. Sail ei nofel Atemschaukel yw carcharu'r lleiafrif Almaeneg yn y Gwlagau dan Stalin adeg yr Ail Ryfel Byd. Roedd ei phentref Niţchidorf (Almaeneg: Nitzkydorf) yn siarad Almaeneg tan yr wythdegau, wedyn aeth bron pawb i'r Almaen, gan ddod â dwy ganrif o'r gymuned i ben.

O 1976 tan 1979 gweithiodd fel cyfieithydd, cyn i'r Securitate fynnu ei hymddiswyddiad, wedyn gweithiodd mewn kindergarten a thrwy rhoi gwersi Almaeneg preifat. Fe wrthodwyd yr hawl iddi allfudo i'r Almaen ym 1985, ond llwyddodd wedyn ym 1987, a symudodd efo'i gŵr Richard Wagner i Berlin. Daeth yn aelod o'r Deutsche Akademie für Sprache und Dichtung yn 1995
