Please, please consider putting the joke back in! I don't even speak Cymraeg (as you can tell from my rudely writing English here), but I actually get the joke, and I'm so delighted at that. I know that's not a good reason, and that the joke isn't encyclopedic, but it's such a shame to lose it entirely. If it can't go in this article, maybe there's another place for it, Famous Welsh Jokes or something? DavidConrad 03:56, 1 Mehefin 2006 (UTC)

Yr enw!
golyguOes rhywun arall yn teimlo fel fi fod yr enw gwneud ar y pentref yn perthyn YN yr erthygl yn hytrach na fel enw arni? Dwi'n sylwi fod y wikipedia Saesneg wedi newid yr enw i Llanfairpwllgwyngyll ac dwi'n tueddu i gytuno. Does neb yn defnyddio'r enw hir ar wahân i'r Bwrdd Croeso neu fel prawf o'r gallu i ynganu'r Gymraeg. Beth am ei symud (Llanfairpwll neu Llanfairpwllgwyngyll)? Anatiomaros 22:48, 21 Ebrill 2007 (UTC)
- Cytuno dylid newid y teitl. Llanfairpwllgwyngyll yw'r enw "swyddogol" am wn i (a felly'n fwy priodol fel teitl yma?), ond Llanfairpwll fydda i'n ei ddweud. --Llygad Ebrill 10:36, 22 Ebrill 2007 (UTC)
- Roeddwn i bron iawn wedi anghofio am hyn. Os nad oes wrthwynebiad dwi'n bwriadu ei symud i Llanfairpwllgwyngyll (neu Llanfairpwll efallai?). Tipyn o jôc ydi'r enw hir, wedi'r cyfan. Anatiomaros 16:43, 11 Gorffennaf 2007 (UTC)
- Cytuno. Dim ond mewn pethau ar gyfer twristiaid y mae'r enw hir yn cael ei ddefnyddio. Rhion 16:49, 11 Gorffennaf 2007 (UTC)

Just asking...
golygu(please pardon my using English rather than Welsh)
Does the long name this village is famous for require an English translation, as given under "yr enw"? If you can read Welsh, you're not supposed to need an explanation of what the name means. This is probably the result of an all too faithful translation from the English article years ago. Steinbach (sgwrs) 21:41, 9 Gorffennaf 2021 (UTC)
- Well, as the article says, the name was dreamed up in order to attract tourists, so we may as well see what kind of piffle was being served up to them. The meaning of the Welsh words is by no means obvious, and the English translation has a kind of "official" status, so it's worth recording. Diolch am dy ddiddordeb! --Craigysgafn (sgwrs) 22:22, 9 Gorffennaf 2021 (UTC)
